XFire Solution. A fireplace that smokes into the room isn’t a personality quirk, it’s a solvable problem. We find why your chimney won’t draw and we fix it.
Draft is physics, warm air rising up the flue pulls smoke with it. When smoke rolls into the room instead, something is beating the physics, a blocked or dirty flue, a cold exterior chimney, a flue that is the wrong size for the firebox, or a tight modern house starving the fire of air. Each has a fix, and finding the right one starts with an honest diagnosis.
Smoke rolling off the top of the firebox into the room, we find whether it’s blockage, flue sizing, or air starvation, and fix that.
Nests, debris and heavy creosote choke draft first. A blocked flue is also a carbon monoxide risk, this one never waits.
Exterior chimneys start cold and push air down. Warming routines, cap and termination fixes, and damper strategy that actually work.
Tight houses, kitchen fans and furnace competition can starve a fire. We identify it and give you the practical fix.
Does it smoke only when the furnace or range hood runs? Air supply. Only on windy days? Termination and cap. Only at the start of a fire, then it clears? Cold flue. All the time, and getting worse? Get the flue looked at before the next burn, that pattern is blockage or buildup.
That campfire smell on humid days is air flowing down the chimney across creosote. It means two things, the flue needs a clean, and the house is pulling air down the chimney, usually a damper or air-balance fix. Both are routine for us.
